for my brother

As soon as I saw this fab image from Pollycraft, I knew it would be perfect for my brother's Christmas card, his name is Maurice (the digi image - not my brother) and there is a very strange likeness there, lol! This sentiment was used with this image on one of the DT cards from
Joanne, and I thought it was just perfect!

for my parents

This is the christmas card I made for my parents, wanted to keep it fairy simple and elegant this time.
Backing paoer is "papermania, home for christmas", the main font is Chopin Script, and have used my wonderful ms border punch here, I think the ribbon and bow came from a box of thornton choccies, also added a wee bit of candy to finish.

Stuff to do when you're snowed in.....

Another horrid amount of snow during the night, the 71/2 inches that I mentioned on my last post, turned into 10 at 6am this morning, and it is still snowing now. Obviously the schools are shut and the kids are home, I am SOOOO glad I booked a days holiday off. We are going into hibernation today, and I am already hearing the call from my craft table.

Finished this wall hanging project yesterday, used scalloped edged and regular circle nesties, and embossed with swiss dots folder to give it some texture, cut the holly with a sizzix die and added red card candy, the green card is pearlescent and looks lush and finally the yummy dotty letters are from this freebie download from Summer Driggs

Speak to you all later, keep warm and safe friends. xx

just been out with the tape measure again....

we are now at 19cm (or 71/2 inches in old money) on my table and its still snowing and we're forecast a load more tonight :(

In case you've not seen enough of the stuff already...

Thought i'd share a few snow pic's with you!

The first ones were taken on my way to work this morning. Cant think of anything worse than driving in the snow, so I walked in. It took me about 45 mins, but probably would've been less if I hadnt stopped to take photos!

I had to walk the full length of this field!

I did also stop to say hello to these ponies.

People ask me which one of my kids enjoy the snow the most - hmm, let me think now, lol!

This was on Tuesday mid-morning and the snow was about 21/2 inches deep - we are now up to about 5inches, and due more tonight - grrrr!

This is the view from Megans bedroom window, it looks surprisingly picturesque for an area that totally isnt!
Both of my kids have been off from school for the last two days, and im having to use some of my holiday leave time to be at home with them, but have managed to get in a bit of crafting time too, so will upload the results later.
Keep warm and safe friends. xx

a VERY special engagement card

Now that the "occasion" has been and passed, I thought i'd get this one uploaded. It is the engagement card I made recently for my boss, and it had to be made large enough for everyone at work to sign. They had gone off to Disneyland Paris to celebrate their engagement, so I thought this would be a fitting image. Aside from being my boss, Nat is also a very good friend, so it was a pleasure to spend time working on this card, and when you're in the midst of mass producing christmas cards, its lovely to take time out and make something for someone special.

a couple of cards from me

Havent uploaded a card onto here for a few days, so thought I'd make ammends.

The first is for this months D/C friendship swap, and I fancied climbing out of my "cute & cuddly" box, and doing something just a wee bit different, I must admit I do like this colour!

Next up, is another Chrimblie card, this image from Pink Gem has got to be one of my faves this season.
Havent made any more of my digi sentiments lately, having stumbled upon another blog offering something uncannily similar - hmmmm! But that said, I do enjoy putting them together, so there may be more soon.
Anyway, having sat here for ages the washing-up fairy still hasnt shown up, so I guess its down to me again.

Something a little bit different from me......

Hello blog-friends!
Another busy Saturday for me today, as I have been roped in to help out at a Christmas Fair at my parents church. I will have a few cards, Reindeer food and poo that I will be selling, but the main feature of the table is festive craft activities for children. Have been scratching my head for ideas of inexpensive and child age-appropriate things to make and do, and have come up with: Christmas Lanterns, Reindeer Penpots, Mini Calendars, decoratable door hangers, but the idea I was really chuffed with was making Reindeer Fridge Magnets, as seen here:

Found some old Funky Foam on top of my wardrobe, and cut a medium and a large circle with a circular nestie, also cut a frame with a large scalloped edge nestie, cut it in half and turned it upside down to create the antlers. Wobbly eyes and red pom-pom was cheapy from either Wilko's or The Works (cant remember which) and finished it with a little off-cut of magnetic tape. I though he looked fab, and should be suitable for myyoung customers.

Will let you know how it goes anyway............

Friendship Freebies

Hi all!

Havent been about for a few days as we've had probs with our internet line not working.........just how many Virgin Media engineers does it take to sort out a few dodgy wires!! Anyway to keep myself entertained (and sane while the kids were suffering facebook withdrawal symptons) I started to make my card for this months Friendship swap over on Docrafts. When I say started,

what I actually mean is that I printed off and coloured in a digi, faffed about with backing papers for a while and then decided to make a sentiment for said card.

Have uploaded them here:
If anyone would like to use them, please feel free to help yourselves. (instructions on how to do this can be found on the previous post.
Oh, and Im still no further with making the card yet either!

Havent uploaded a card for a couple of weeks now.....

So, I thought it was about time! Made this at the weekend, the image is from Bugaboo, isnt he cute! Absolutely love these digi's, they are fab to colour. The ticket sentiment is one of my own as is still available as a freebie here. I wanted to make a boys christmas card, that wasnt to "christmassy"

Off to work in a mo, the kids are on half term just now, but poor old Me could only get one day off this week :(

Circular Greeting

Here's another little freebie, you might like to play with, again click on the image itself and then right click to "save as" etc........

These are here for anyone to nab and use, and if you do so please let me know so that I can have a nosy!

bit of a technical question?

I have been "designing" my own circular greetings and ticket sentiments, and what I would like to be able to do is put them onto my blog to share with everyone else! I have been using Seriff page plus se to make these, and tried to upload a sheet of these as a picture, but it is not letting me do this, saying it does not recognise the format of the pageplus document.

First of all, am I going about this the right way, in that im trying to upload these as a picture?

Is there another program that I can copy this work into, that would allow me to upload on to my blog?

Hope this makes sense, and that one of you clever clogs can help me

a couple of flatties......

one of the problems with having family in different parts of England and Scotland is that it can cost an arm and a leg in stamps at christmas, so this year I am making some less bulky cards, having been stung for over 60p for each stamp last year, just 'cos i'd used a few embellies....ggrrrr, anyway, these are three that I made yesterday
This image is Milly, and she came from Digistamp boutique last year, made my own sentiment ticket, backing paper and button from stash

These two gorgeously cute images have recently been digi freebies from Pink Gem, made on sentiment on both cards.

Thank you for stopping by. xx

a chrimbo card

Now im on a bit of a roll with my christmas cards, I am really enjoying it, this is one i've been working on over a couple of evenings, mostly as an i***ing dodge, lol!
Anyway, the image is download from Heather Ellis and is coloured with my beloved promarkers, have gone around the edge of this image with "lavender" Stickles, the two papers i've used are just from stash, the snowflakes are from an xcut punch with dew drops added, and the sentiment "ticket" is one of my own creations, which I've made using serif page plus s.e.
Hope you are all well, thank you for calling in to visit me. xx

one for my docrafty lovelies......

here is the photo i promised i'd show you, of the day I met Bono............

Ok, so it was at Madame Tussards, hehehe! I was about 17 at the time, so it was about 20 (OMG!!) years ago and I no longer have either that knitted waistcoat or that figure!!

"care to join me under here?"

Finally started to get myself organised and started on the christmas cards! Here is one i made yesterday:
The image was donated by a very lovely fellow docrafter, and is coloured with promarkers, have used a section of white vellum and embossed it with my trusty Swiss Dots folder. ribbon, button and brads from stash.

nothing ventured, nothing gained!

This is a card i made last week for the Tilda challenge over on docrafts, it is also the card i'd like to use as my "entry" as it were for a DT call from http://cinspirations.blogspot.com/ . The theme is "Autunm Colours". Never tried out for anything like this before, but i saw Natalie's post on DC and thought it give it a go!

Monday, 6 September 2010

oooooh, i've been given a blog award!!

Have been given this fab award by my wonderful docrafting friend Carol. The deal with this is that i have to pick 10 others to receive this award, and also explain why i started my blog in the first place.
Sooooo, I started my blog to have a special little place to show my cards, to be able to go into more detail about how i put them together, and also just to have somewhere to ramble on to my hearts content about stuff that matter to me!
I have chosen the following people, I find their blogs really inspiring and fab to look at!
thank you. xx

Wednesday, 1 September 2010

just wanted to share this one with you...

Had a request from a friend from work, for an owl themed wedding card, and whilst i had to do a bit of hunting for a suitable image, the sentiment came to mind almost straight away. I do hope they liked it!

fab day out!

Hi all, hope you are all fine and dandy! Cant believe the summer holidays are nearly done, im back to work tomorrow (boohoo!) but have had a couple of great weeks off. Started with a very busy, and extremely fun long weekend in Scotland, spending time with Alistairs family, and yesterday rounded my hols off with a trip to London with my mum and kids. Many years ago I used to work in an office in Whitehall, but never did much touristy stuff, so I really enjoyed what we did, thought i'd share a few piccies of the day:

what i got up to this week......

not having to rush around and do two school runs in two different parts of town has freed up a bit of crafting time in the afternoon for me, so thought i'd share with you all a couple of my cards from this week.

Thought i'd had a bash at making my own "tickets" this week, Seriff Page Plus se is the program i use for nearly all of my cardmaking, and used this to draw a square then inverted the corners inwards. Played around with it a bit and was pleased with what i created! The image is a donated H&S stamp - isnt he gorgeous!

Hubby asked me to make this wedding card for a friend of a friend, the wedding cake is a Pink Petticoat image, and i added sticky pearls to give it a bit of detail.

Hoping it stops raining and the weather cheers up a bit today, was hoping to get out with the old flymo and get the gardens tidied up a bit today.

Enjoy your weekend!

Hi Bloggyfriends! Not been about much of late, as i am having a mega prob with my pc - bloomin thing just shuts down without warning, ggrrrr!

It seems to be playing nicely now, so i've been able to upload this card, which is for this months friendship swap over on DC, and is also my card for the Pollycraft - flash those freebies challenge.

Thank you. xx

Have posted a thread over on D/C but also wanted to say over here too, Huge thanks to everyone for your lovely wishes, the wonderful cards and the goodies on my birthday. I had a fab day yesterday. No craft related pressies from hubby this year, but he paid for me to have my hair done on thursday, which was what i really wanted. My mum and dad brought me a gorgeous dress which i am planning to wear to my friends 50th birthday party tonight!! Might be a wee bit hungover in the morning!!!

Sometimes card occasions are like buses.....

You wait for ages and then loads come along all at once!! Right now working through 6 birthdays, Fathers Day cards for hubby and my Dad, and then to top it all hubby's niece had a baby girl yesterday. Plenty to keep me out of mischief, lol

First up is a birthday card for one of my lovely Docrafts friends, Julie, whose birthday was last week, so the card should be with her by now. The image was donated, isnt it fab!
next up, is a card i've made for a work colleague, whose birthday is next sunday ( I am two days older than her, and never let her forget it, lol!) Image is a freebie download, my apologies but I cant find the link to that blog atm. The dotty buttons come from a local drapery store and i absolutely love them! This is the card I made to congratulate Lisa, James and Ellie on the arrival of Daisy Grace ( she weighed in at a very respectable 9lbs 12!!)

Finally, this is the birthday card that i made for a very dear family friend. This image is this weeks freebie download from pollycraft, its a treat to colour, so will be using it loads more.

Well, thats about it for now - more to come later in the week! Havent gone into much detail on each of the cards, but if there is anything anyone wants to know, please feel free to ask.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend. xx

Sunday, 13 June 2010

Hope you're all having a lovely weekend. As i updated yesterday, despite selling a few cards the craft event yesterday wasnt a huge success, but it was nice to be able to go out into my craft conservy today and make a card for my parents wedding anniversary tomorrow. Have spent a lot of my card making time recently on cards for our "to be sold" box so it was lovely to be able to spend some time on something more personal that I know will really appreciated.

donated image, coloured with promarkers, backing paper is also donated (it came from a wild rose studio cd), sticky pearls in corner, and this piece layered up onto a section of card that has been "swiss dots" embossed. Wording produced on pc (the font is called LD Pretty), added a little bit of ribbon and a button to the corners to finish.

Saturday, 12 June 2010

got a busy one today

just getting the last of my bits ready for an event i am having a table at today. It is a craft fair with a "make and take" theme. I have prepared some decoratable book marks, hand printing pictures with a nice verse, Fathers Day certificates, and have also printed off some pictures onto tissue paper to do some candle decorating. Hoping to sell some cards too - wish me luck!

Hope you all have a good day too, what are you up to?

*** just to update, didnt have the best of days yesterday, the turnout for the event was very disappointing, but ho hum, as my great aunt lil used to say "worse things happen at sea" ***
